Oh shit
We're safe. Belgrave is looking pretty sketchy, which is one of my favourite places in Melbourne. The fire front is around 10km away from us, so we're blanketed in smoke, the sky is orange and full of helicopters, but we *should* be safe.

Still, closer than I like it.

Yep, slightly less as the crow flies. Fortunately, there's a bit of a hill in between us, so it'd have to burn up one side and down the other before it gets to us, which is unlikely at best. Close enough to make things a bit uncomfortable though. I might add, my fire plan goes like this: grab handbag, box of important documents, computer, cats, and run like hell.

That is an Excellent fire plan, I wholly support it and hope you don't need to put it in to action!

I have to say, I think it's some of my best work. We're insured. We don't own that much that is literally irreplaceable, and I reckon what we do I can fit in my car. That's why I let the insurance company gouge me every month :)

I'm in awe of the people who stay and defend, but let me tell you, I'm so not one of them. You won't see me for dust :)

Thanks. They've got the fire under control overnight, so the threat is over, at least for the time being.

If any SCA peeps you know of are effected by this please give a shout out. There is a SCA wide emergency relief group- we try to have one group in each kingdom, then all the kingdoms groups organize donations and send it to the effected area. We sent thousands in gift cards, clothes, household goods, etc. when Gleann Abhann was hit by Katrina.

We've been asking up here in AnTir, but have been told that none of the Local SCAdians have been hit- if anyone has please, please let us know how we can help.

To the best of my knowledge, all SCAdians have been accounted for, and no property has been lost. The crisis is very much still going though, and probably will be for at least another month until this stupid weather starts to calm down.

I remember Lochac sending a shipment of stuff to Gleann Abhann, I think it's fabulous that everyone can help out like that.

Thanks for your concern for us, I will update if the situation changes, but for the moment, we all seem to be okay.

I hope you all remain safe and sound until it passes.

I'm sure we'll all keep our ears to the ground for things coming from the society level as well, but if you'd ever like me to post anything to our kingdom relief group to be spread far and wide just let me know.

I just wish we could help everyone. It's not just Scadians that are hurting. :(
